Program / Project Overview
This position is for a senior database administrator to provide on-site client support for a high profile DOJ client. The candidate will help support the implementation of RHEL 6 and Oracle 12c.

Tasks
Our client is seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to be located in Washington, DC. This position will require knowledge of database principles of design, backup and recovery procedures, query optimization, stored procedures, triggers and performance tuning. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the management of multiple Oracle 11g clustered databases on Oracle RAC and enterprise management tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include export/imports, patching, backup and recovery, monitoring, and assessment and mitigation of security vulnerabilities.
- The qualified candidate will be responsible for the investigation, resolution, and explanation of system and application related issues.
- The candidate will also be required to deploy and implement enhancements that will improve the reliability, maintainability, and performance of the databases and infrastructure.
- In accordance with customer's security policies and directives, the candidate will deploy, maintain, and enhance the security of databases through administrative, preventive, detective, and reactive controls, such as change, configuration and patch management.
- You will be a member of a small Operations team of Oracle DBAs, Linux, and Oracle Middleware administrators located in the Washington, DC area.
- There will be some after hours and weekend responsibilities expected.
- Strong operations focus of Oracle 11g RAC databases to include installing, configuring, and tuning
- Ensure database consistency and integrity
- Install, upgrade, and configure database software and database related application packages
- Perform database and SQL tuning as appropriate
- Apply database software patches
- Provide security assessment and mitigation strategies
- Execute and troubleshoot database backup and recovery processes
- Monitor and troubleshoot the performance and availability of databases
- Support application deployments (usually during weekends)

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years' experience as an Oracle DBA
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Proficiency with Oracle 11g and 12c
- Experience with Oracle RMAN
- Strong understanding and use of SQL, PL/SQL, Linux OS, and common scripting languages
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Team oriented and able to operate with minimal supervision
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience working within a process improvement environment such as CMMI or Six Sigma

Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Oracle RAC and Oracle Enterprise Manager Experience with other Oracle technologies such as Oracle DataGuard and ASM a plus
- Experience with Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Access Manager a plus
- Typically requires bachelor's degree and 10-12 years of experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Team oriented and able to operate with minimal supervision
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work in a project-based team environment
- Experience working within a process improvement environment such as CMMI or Six Sigma
- Experience with best practice methodologies such as ITIL
- Customer focused with dedication to customer satisfaction

Subcontractor personnel are expected to possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities and duties of the FTE requirement on day one.  These personnel shall not require extensive training in order to be of immediate use. As required, training will be provided to Subcontractor personnel for Agency-unique requirements only. 

Subcontractor personnel shall demonstrate an autonomous self-starting work ethic, be able to work independently, follow tasks through to the end, demonstrate flexibility when dealing with changing priorities and deadlines, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to address multiple high-priority requirements simultaneously.  Subcontractor personnel shall demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and good administrative/organizational skills.  Subcontractor personnel shall possess proven and effective skills in Microsoft Office applications/tool suite, and must be able to pass a brief exam on Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Education Requirements:   Bachelor's or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred
Experience Requirements:   Over 10 years
Certification Requirements:   Oracle 11g certification
Security Clearance Requirements:  DOJ MBI must be obtainable
