Application Developer/Architect

About Web is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Application Developer in Baltimore, MD.

The role is a high-level, professional technical web application design and product deployment position. This role includes performing complex design, product training, and best practice implementation of Percussion products. Individual must be highly collaborative and have ability that spans all areas of the customizing the Percussion web content management system product as well as implementing product upgrades.

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Develop approaches for embedding static content from content management system into dynamic content and vice versa

• Develop approaches to leverage capabilities of Percussion to enable content socialization, syndication, blogging and user collaboration

• Developing customizations on the Percussion web content management system

• Development of Percussion packages

• Developing Percussion Templates

• Customizing workflows

• Supporting product upgrades

• Troubleshoot/resolve system issues

• Actively create dashboards and weekly operations reports

• Modification and Creation of release related documentation (webmaster guides, etc.)

• Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test and production environments

• Perform System Administration duties to manage various content management sites and different components of Percussion architecture.

Percentage of time spent on technology:

• 80% of your time will be focused on UI development (HTML5, CSS3, Javascript)

• 10% of your time will be coding using an Object Orientated language (PHP5, C#, Java)

• 10% of your time will be doing design, development and administration on database and web servers

Percentage of time spent on actions:

• 60% of your time will be spent on implementation / integration and coding

• 25% of your time will be design and architecture of system integration

• 15% of your time will be doing light web server administration

Background in Web Content Management and Experience implementing Web Content Management Systems

5+ years Developing Percussion Content Management System generated Websites (Percussion Rhythmx)

3+ years and multiple sites Customizing Percussion Content Management System including packages, Comments and Ratings, Personalization and Web Analytics.

3+ years Experience developing Percussion templates

3+ years High levels of competency in the following areas:

• Cloud computing experience (Amazon Web Services in particular, Azure, etc.).

• Web development, HTML5, XHTML, XSL/XSLT, CSS3, JavaScript

• Strong knowledge of the complete LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP)

• Strong knowledge of responsive web design (CSS, HTML, JS, JQuery, etc.)

• Consulting Experience integrating web applications in LAMP environments

• Knowledge of at least one Object Orientated language: Java, C#, Coldfusion and/or C++

• Experience in other databases aside from MySQL: Derby, Oracle, MS SQL Server

• Web and Application server administration, IIS, Tomcat, JBOSS

• Firm grasp of web framework/patterns, JQuery, Foundation, Responsive Design

• Solid design background – experience designing user-centric, accessible, responsive websites for our clients and be able to take a PSD design from a third-party design agency and slice/code it into CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.

Other Technical Skills include:

• Experience with Section 508 and accessibility best practices

• SEO integration experience

• Understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby)

• Experience with CI/CD and frequent, incremental code testing and deployment

• Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent

• Experience with variety of automation tools
